We are starting this Friday with lots of sunshine and it is about as nice a start to the day as we have seen a quite a long time. In fact based on the satellite loop it is dry and nice through much of the Northeast and Middle Atlantic States today. The moisture in the Southeast US southwestward into the Gulf of Mexico is coming from the Pacific from what is left of Tropical Storm Beatriz which moved inland over South Mexico overnight. For now that moisture goes in the Gulf of Mexico and stays there. It is not a factor in our weather. We will continue to enjoy sunshine for much of today with temperatures in the 70s.

Another weak cold front will be approaching from the northwest this afternoon and this could trigger off an isolated shower or thunderstorm. There is probably little risk of any thunderstorm becoming severe today. These should be isolated in nature and fast moving if they happen at all. Most areas won’t see anything of consequence. After that there is a small disturbance moving southeast from the Great Lakes Saturday morning that could produce a few clouds and perhaps a brief shower over parts of Central NJ and Eastern Pennsylvania for a short time. Otherwise much of Saturday should be dry with no worse than partly sunny skies and temperatures again in the 70s.
Sunday’s outlook has gotten more positive over the last few days. I am still thinking sunshine giving way to arriving clouds and perhaps some showers and thunderstorms in the mid to late afternoon across the Hudson Valley, NW New Jersey and Northeast Pennsylvania, and then spreading southeast to the coast and eastward into Connecticut and Long Island Sunday evening. I think much of the day could be dry for a good chunk of our area. Temperatures again will be in the 70s.

Once this system passes we will be seeing unsettled conditions for Monday and Tuesday of next week with some rain possible on both days though timing is difficult at this point. There could be a stretch on Monday where we don’t see much in the way of showers. Weather models are all over the place with this and will remain agnostic for now regarding Monday and Tuesday other than to have the chance for showers on both days and work the details out later.
