Temperatures Bounce Higher Next Chance for Rain or Showers Tuesday This morning we woke up to the coldest temperatures of the month and the coldest temperatures of the winter season across the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic states. Lows bottomed in the low teens and single digits in the urban corridor and we bottomed below zero north in Upstate NY and well below zero in double digits in Northern New England.  This was no doubt a fast shot of cold air that is now moving out. We managed to recover back into the 30s in most places this afternoon. Warmer air is arriving ahead of a weak cold front that will pass through Sunday night. High clouds are already arriving and that will help keep temperatures up overnight with most lows in the 20s and teens in the colder spots. Everyone should be at least 10 degrees higher Sunday morning than this morning. Though clouds will be increasing other than perhaps some snow showers well north, there are no precipitation issues to worry about through Monday. SATELLITE REGIONAL RADAR There is no change in the outlook into next week. Sunday will be warmer with high clouds and some sunshine with highs back in the 40s. The front passes Sunday night with little fanfare other than clouds and those clouds will move out for Monday. Presidents Day will be a nice day of sunshine but temperatures will probably top out in the low to mid 40s. SUNDAY'S FORECAST HIGH TEMPERATURES MONDAY'S FORECAST HIGH TEMPERATURES On to Tuesday when the next storm system heads to the Great Lakes and then moves through Upstate NY and New England. Our 4 day dry streak ends with the likelihood of showers for Tuesday. This does not look to be anything major as a cold front passes Tuesday night. Rainfall amounts of a quarter to at most a half inch are forecast and where it snows upstate NY and Northern New England, snow amounts will be on the order of a few inches or so and even in these areas up north a change to rain is possible. Though the front stalls out across the Gulf States and the Southeast US, this time around any wave development passes well to the south and east of us so it will turn dry and cold Wednesday through Friday with temperatures averaging a little below normal. We are looking at daytime highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s Wednesday and mostly in the 30s Thursday and Friday. We should see some sunshine all three days. We might actually catch a break and have dry weather right through next weekend before any other weather systems start approaching us.
