The holiday weekend weather has been just about perfect even with the bouncing temperatures. Parts of Northwest New Jersey and Orange County New York had their first frosts this morning but there are no frost issues tonight as warmer is moving in. Coolest spots might get into the 40s but most lows should be in the 50s to around 60.
Monday looks to be sunny for much of the day as everyone gets into the 70s. The beach actually might not be a bad idea for one last day with reasonable temperatures if you are sitting out in the low angle sun though the ocean temperatures have dropped into the 60s which is way to chilly for me.
During the afternoon some high clouds might come from the southeast. There is a bit of a wave off the coast and while nothing is going to come of this some models are throwing back a little moisture to the northwest. You can also see a stick of clouds in the Dakotas and that is the next cold front. Not much moisture exists in between. So there could be clouds Monday night and perhaps even a touch of very light rain for coastal areas only. Tuesday will be warm with clouds and perhaps a couple of scattered showers with the cold front as it moves through. Beyond Tuesday we will see a gradual chill down in temperatures but the colder air of importance does not arrive until late in the week. Next weekend will see the arrival of the coldest air of the autumn season so far and more frosts and freezes are likely at that point. There is still lots of confusion regarding the long range blocking pattern that is setting up and JOESTRADAMUS has more on this.
