Winter Weather Advisory South of Route 78 NJ SE Pennsylvania

There are no changes in the Winter Weather Advisory posted for this evening. No additional areas have been added. Clouds are rolling in this morning ahead of a weak system crossing the Ohio Valley and into Western Pennsylvania. The radar presentation this morning is actually quite robust out to the west in Western Pennsylvania & Eastern Ohio. They will see 2 to 3 inches of snow there. However the systems’s support is weak and it will weaken as it crosses Pennsylvania. What is left will move through here this evening with some light snow and ice which could slick things up a bit especially in the advisory area where it may be more sleet or freezing rain rather than snow. It only lasts a few hours between 4pm-9pm and then it is pretty much done. Temperatures this morning are in the mid to upper teens to start. We should make it to the upper 20s and lower 30s by evening.

We are seeing some snow aloft on the radar this morning but we don’t expect any of this to reach the ground until the main area to the west arrives late this afternoon.

Once this system passes through Tuesday we should see some improvement with some sunshine and clouds. Highs could reach the 40s in some areas before colder air comes in for Wednesday. Then it is back into the 30s to near 40 Wednesday with sunshine. We will warm things up for Thursday into Saturday as a series of waves of low pressure go by to our west. We are likely to see temperatures head up into the 50s which means melting snow. We are also likely to some some rain late Thursday or more than likely Friday into Saturday. This system could be quite the ice storm in parts of the interior Northeast. Colder air follows behind this next Sunday and Monday.
