Winter Weather Advisory Snow Ice Moving East

The latest satellite loop shows the disturbance to the west moving eastward and we have some activity now on the regional and local radars with some precipitation moving across Eastern Pennsylvania mainly south of Route 78 into parts of Western New Jersey. The temperature map above shows that while a few areas along the coast have seen the air temperature go above 32, the rest of the area remains in the 20s. The Winter Weather Advisory is posted for areas more likely to see some icing issues as the precipitation moves through while to the north in the areas not under an advisory (Northern New Jersey, Hudson Valley, Long Island & Connecticut), those areas are likely to see more snow than anything else with accumulations generally on the order of a coating to an inch. Exercise caution when travelling this evening especially in areas where the Winter Weather Advisory is posted as roads are likely to  become slick. Even in areas where it is above 32 the ground temperature is several degrees or more below freezing and may not warm up in time.

Once this gets out of the way the next 3 days should be dry and the Arctic cold is gone. This should all be done long before midnight with leftover clouds to follow. Sunshine and some clouds will be with us the next 2 days with highs Tuesday in the 40s and highs Wednesday only in the 30s to near 40.
