For areas in Western NY & Western Pennsylvania some of this includes lake effect snows that will develop later Thursday into early Friday on the backside of this system For those of you skiing this holiday weekend this extra added snow will add to a solid snow cover that already exists well north in Upstate NY and Northern New England.

REGIONAL RADAR

We are looking at what should be a dry rain free Wednesday here with arriving and thickening clouds as the day wears on. Radars should become more active this afternoon but we do not expect precipitation to arrive until later this evening and overnight. A brief start as snow or sleet is possible north and west of NYC and Philadelphia before a change to rain. Eventually a change to rain will extend as far north as I-90 in upstate NY Thursday morning.

We are looking at mostly rain tonight into Thursday morning as low pressure moves into New England. After that it is about a shot of very cold air coming in for Friday and Saturday. Believe it or not this may be the coldest air of the month and of the entire winter season that is on the way. Temperatures today will reach into the upper 30s and lower 40s..warmer though in South Jersey and Southeastern PA. Tonight temperatures likely rise through the 40s and even into the 50s in some places Thursday before cold air takes over.

Friday morning takes us down into the 20s to near 30 with temperatures holding there all day long with a mix of sun and clouds along with a gusty wind. Friday night into Saturday will be very cold as we hit lows in the single digits and low teens.

Weather Improves Late Today More Rain Late Wednesday Thursday Holiday Weekend Forecast

Saturday we will see sunshine with highs in the upper 20s and lower 30s. Temperatures begin to moderate Sunday and Monday Presidents Day. We don’t see any issues other than clouds for Sunday as a weak cold front approaches. Monday will be dry with some sunshine with seasonal highs in the 40s though it will be colder as you head well north and west of the coast on both days. For a change we will not have any rain or snow (that part we knew!) Friday through Monday. Long range we see no changes in the weather pattern we have been in for the next 10 days or longer, possibly taking us through the end of the month and into the start of March.
