Weekend Weather Outlook Showers Saturday Nice Sunday
We have arrived at Friday and the first of the last 4 weekends of the summer. I hold to what I said yesterday which was that Sunday is the better of the two weekend days. First we have today which is starting out with sunshine though clouds are on the satellite to the west and they wlll be moving in at some point. The wind today will be from the south or even south southeast which brings in moisture and it puts a check in how high temperatures will get. I don’t think we have any showers to worry into this evening except perhaps in areas from extreme Western New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania where the first downpours will begin to show up. Later this evening and overnight those downpours should work their way through from west to east.

There will be a second round of downpours later in the day Saturday with warm and humid conditions all day and some dry periods in between. highs will reach into the 80s.
WEEKEND WEATHER RAINFALL FORECAST
You can see from the rain forecast map above that their is a lot of variability in the rain totals which is usually the nature of these mid summer downpour events. No matter what happens they will be moving out Saturday evening. Sunday could be begin a stretch of nice weather that lasts at least through Tuesday as long as the cold front moving through stalls out far enough to our south. Sunday will be mostly sunny with highs in the 80s with low humidity. It could be more of the same Monday and Tuesday with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s.
Monday August 21st is the solar eclipse which will be visible in our area with 70-80 percent coverage from north to south. JOESTRADAMUS, NASA, & NOAA have more on this.
