Weekend Forecast Update Downpours Overnight Saturday Clouds Some Sun Late Thunderstorm Risk

Let’s go over what the weekend will be like because we only have 4 left through the Labor Day weekend and we want to take advantage as much as possible. First off Sunday will be the better of the 2 days with lots of sunshine, low humidity and highs in the warm middle 80s in most places. The question mark is for Saturday and here is what I think will happen

The satellite loop shows clouds advancing from the west as a cold front swings eastward. A warm front is setting up to our south and as that passes through later tonight into early Saturday morning there will be some downpours and possible thunderstorms in the mix. Some of the rain will be heavy. However the rains will end from west to east between 5am and 8am. The rest of Saturday during the day will be dry with the risk of a passing downpour and a mix of clouds and sun. Late in the day and Saturday evening there could be another chance for a shower or thunderstorm. My main view here is that once the mornings rain is done, much of the area may not see anything of consequence for the rest of the day. The chance is there but we may just get away with it. It will be warm and humid with temperatures into the 80s. Even through there is a marginal risk of severe weather I think the main issue will be heavy rain and the potential for some flash flooding.

Radars will begin to get busy this evening to the west and south but for much of the area, nothing much happens until later tonight. We will monitor the development in case any strong thunderstorms develop but so far there isn’t much there.

Next week looks very good and it may be the best weather week of the summer with sunshine each day, comfortable humidity, temperatures in the low to mid 80s by day and nights in the 60s with no threat for thunderstorms possibly for the entire week. As long as this cold front coming through stalls far enough to our south, there should not be any issues.
