Solar Eclipse Weather Monday August 21
Solar Eclipse Weather Monday August 21 Maps Courtesy of NASA
The Solar Eclipse is Monday August 21st The maps above and below are courtesy of NASA and show the path of the eclipse and where you can expect to see 100%. Our area generally will see between 70 and 80 percent coverage.
Here is a tight view of the path of the eclipse where totality lies on a line from about Portland Oregon southeast to near Charleston South Carolina. As far as the weather is concerned the GFS model is the only model that at this point goes far enough out in the long range.
Today’s weather models continue to show issues in the Eastern half of the United States with typical summertime mid August weather with humidity and probably clouds in the mix. This is not to say that there won’t be clear skies but there is the risk that there could be cloud cover during the time of the eclipse.
In the Western half of the United States where it is also typical summer mid August weather, there is going to be a large area of the country where skies should be mainly clear. Again this is going to change and adjust somewhat in the coming days so check back everyday as JOESTRADAMUS will be updated this.
