Week Ahead Weather Volatile Nice To Heat to Cool Maybe Some Rain
We end another very nice weekend of weather where sunshine dominated from start to finish and only a minor interruption from some scattered showers and thunderstorms that rolled through parts of the area Saturday night. Ahead of us tonight some high clouds are streaming eastward from the Great Lakes as we begin another adventure of temperatures edging higher. Skies will be clear to partly cloudy tonight with lows in the 50s along the coast and 40s inland. Nothing of consequence is on the regional or local radars tonight and we don’t expect anything shower wise until Wednesday when the next cold front approaches.
SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
Monday will bring us northeast to east winds and partly sunny skies with most highs into the 70s though 60s will prevail along coastal areas as well as areas north and northeast of NYC. Tuesday sees the winds begin to bend around to the south and southwest as temperatures start to rise. Skies will be partly sunny again with highs in the 70s to around 80.
Wednesday will be the hot summer day that summer time loves are always yearning for and cool weather lovers will hate. A cold front will be approaching from the north bending our winds to the west. With partly sunny skies at least into the afternoon temperatures have no where to go but up and highs will reach the mid 80s to near 90 with high humidity. The front should trigger off a few showers or some thunderstorms Wednesday evening.
Thursday may be the day where we see a more widespread rain as the front stalls to our south and a wave of low pressure develops and passes offshore to our south and east. This will put us in clouds with temperatures just in the 60s along with some much needed rain. It won;t be a lot of rain but somebody north of the low center will pick up a half to 3/4’s of an inch of rain and the best chances for that will be from Northeast Pennsylvania eastward to Northern New Jersey, the Hudson Valley and into Southern New England with lesser amounts to the south.
The low offshore will be the catalyst for bringing in a solid shot of very cool Autumn air for Friday and next weekend with highs just in the 60s Friday and highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s for Saturday and possibly into Sunday. We should see leftover clouds Friday giving way to some sun and at least some sunshine for Saturday and Sunday as the autumn weather finally settles in for a few days. Additional fronts and shots of cool air along with occasional chances for much needed rain will be in the cards as we move deeper into October.
