Temperatures Rebound Light Snow South Friday Showers Next Tuesday
Tons of record lows this morning fell in the East especially ones that have short data sets. This cold has led some people in the Northeast exclaim that they “never remember it ever being this cold before!” Please just stop it already. We’ve been this cold. We’ve been colder and one day it will be cold again. In fact tonight it will be cold again. OMG two days in a row of single digit lows..oh the humanity!
The rebound begins Friday and as warm air overruns the cold air an area of snow will break out. It is already moving through the Midwest. This system is weak and if it holds together it could leave a coating to an inch or so in areas to the South. It would be mainly in New Jersey south of Route 195 and in Pennsylvania south of Route 76.
Meanwhile on the satellite loop the lake effect on the east shore of Lake Ontario north of Syracuse near Pulaski has been sitting in a firehose of snow for days and it continues. You can see the bright white plume over the lake in an east west fashion and shows no signs of moving. Watertown NY as of 1pm has 15 but there are areas nearby that have far more.
EASTERN SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
High temperatures Friday should crack the 20s. Clouds will be around. Saturday and Sunday we will some sun each day with highs in the 30s Saturday and into the 40s Sunday. Monday and Tuesday we will be in upper 40s and lower 50s. Tuesday we will take the numbers even higher with highs in the mid to upper 50s. Monday should be dry. Tuesday we see a chance for showers as a cold front moves through.
Some questions rise up for Wednesday. Low level cold air is set to return but how much is a question. Even though upper levels will be too warm for snow, lower levels of the atmosphere stand a chance to go below freezing as the next weather system approaches from the southwest. This is something that is on our personal radar at the moment. Some of the upper air clues suggest that low level cold air could be an issue for the middle of next week.
