Summer Weekend Sunshine Very Warm Temperatures Autumn Arrives Monday

I think the word spectacular really describes the weather in our area for this week and really for this entire month so far. This has to be on of the best Septembers of weather we have seen in a very long time and especially after last years long stretch of unbearable humidity that lasted into October. It is not the case this year and this weekend we are seeing lots of sunshine for both weekend days. The satellite picture has us mostly clear from Maine to Florida and nothing at all on the regional or local radars.

Winds went to the west on Friday and they will start to bend to the west southwest today and gradually more southwest Sunday and Monday. Highs today will be in the low to mid 80s with 70s along the shore when the sea breeze develops. Skies will be sunny all day long and the humidity will be low. Tonight will be nice and clear with most lows in the 60s.

Sunday will also be mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid 80s. The humidity will start to come up on Sunday as dew points will rise into the low 60s. It will be a bit more uncomfortable but not too bad and certainly not oppressive.

Monday brings the next cold front (finally) and it will be a warm and humid day with highs in the low to mid 80s. Some scattered showers are likely late in the day into Monday evening with the chance for the odd thunderstorm or two. The front will be passing to the east Monday night.

Monday is also the first day of Autumn. Weather seasons do not turn on a magical date and time. They tend to bleed into one another. This week we will see a continuation of the overall dry pattern with seasonal temperatures. You will see on the GFS that Tropical Storm Jerry is no issue along the East Coast of the US nor is it an issue for the Bahamas however it will be heading toward Bermuda by midweek and probably strengthening back into a hurricane. That keeps us in high pressure into at least Thursday so look for at least some sunshine each day Tuesday through Thursday with highs mostly in the 70s. We have weak fronts this week with one Friday and another at some point over next weekend but both fronts look like non events.
