Snow Banding Creating Variable Conditions
Satellite & radar loops show that snow has been “banding” up meaning that some areas are seeing steady moderate snow but if you are on either side of the snow bands, you are probably seeing very little snow coming down. Also if you look at the satellite loop you can see the northern stream energy dropping southeast. This I think is enhancing a band of snow in Eastern Pennsylvania that was not exactly forecast to be there.
SATELLITE LOOP
To the east we see another steady band of snow extends from Western Connecticut across the Hudson Valley to Northeast New Jersey southwestward into Southwest New Jersey. All of this is likely to pivot eastward in the next few hours.

LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
Temperatures are in the low 30s plus or minus a degree or two of freezing. By now when snow falls hard enough it will be accumulating on secondary and back roads and it already has been doing that in some places. Snow should taper off and end from west to east overnight. Sunday will be a much better day with sunshine and some clouds with highs in the 30s to near 40.
The next system approaches on Monday with sunshine and arriving clouds with highs in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Some rain or snow showers are likely Monday night into Tuesday followed by strong gusty winds and colder air during Tuesday as temperatures falling through the 30s and down into the teens Wednesday. Wednesday highs in many areas won’t be out of the 20s.
