Snow Forecast Lowering Amounts Weather Improves Sunday

The underwhelming look of the satellite and radar this morning and the fact that dry air has basically eaten away at all the lead moisture leads me to basically lower amounts to the low end of the range. I just don’t think there is time to put down more that what I am indicating. The satellite loop appears to be showing some thunderstorm development to the east and that could be robbing the wave near North Carolina of some moisture. Either way it seems to me that 2 to 3 inches will be the general topside here with perhaps a few locally higher amounts in some places. Lesser amounts as you head north and west. Also lesser amounts along the immediate coast. If you don’t get intensity you are going to have trouble bringing coastal temperatures down to freezing.

You can see the blotchy nature of the echos on both the regional and local radars. It is trying to fill in to the west across NYC into Northeast New Jersey. If there were a wall of precipitation to the south I might have just left everything along but I think it is wise to lean to the low end here.

All of this will come to an end overnight and then we will see some sunshine on Sunday with highs in the 30s to near 40. Monday we will see sun and arriving clouds with highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s. A warm front cold front combination will bring the chance for rain and snow showers Monday night into Tuesday followed by very cold air and strong winds for later Tuesday into Wednesday and Thursday.
