Showers Moving Northeast Gloomy Weekend
Showers Moving Northeast Gloomy Weekend
It won’t be raining straight through the next 2 1/2 days but when it isn’t it will be rather gloomy out there with lots of clouds and an onshore wind at least through Saturday morning. This is going to keep conditions rather raw and dismal. There are showers on the radar though the bulk are north and west of the coast. Not showing up on the radar is some light rain or drizzle that is occurring in coastal areas. Low pressure from the Central Plains is heading for the Great Lakes. The upper midwest will see a major snowstorm out of this. For us it is rain. Rainfall amounts have been scaled back a bit but an inch to an inch and a quarter of rain seems plausible.
US SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
The regional and local radars are showing rain moving eastward. In colder area in the Catskills and points northward cold air is trapped for now and some of those areas are experiencing freezing rain. That will be an issue into the first part of tonight in those areas.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
Saturday will be cloudy but not much rain will fall. Any rain Saturday is likely to be patchy in nature though areas of light rain and drizzle are likely to play through from time to time that might not always show up well on radars especially near coastal areas. Temperatures should manage their way higher though in the upper 40s to mid 50s Sunday there should be one solid shot of area wide rain during the day with the rain moving out during the afternoon. Highs will be in the 50s. Then weather conditions should improve nicely on Monday with the first part of next week sunny and on the warmer side of average. Later next week the blocking pattern across the North Atlantic will take control and this will mean a more volatile late week. JOESTRADAMUS will look at the long range later today.
