AUTUMN COOL SETTLES IN WITH RAIN NEW JERSEY SOUTH OF ROUTE 78
SOME SUNSHINE BREAKS OUT NORTH & EAST OF NNJ, NYC
SOAKING RAIN SETS UP FOR LATER MONDAY NIGHT TUESDAY
We start our Sunday with the sharp dividing line between dry cool air to the north of NYC and rain to the south this morning. Friday night’s cold front is stalled to our south and a flat wave is moving along it this morning. The dry air to the north will eventually force its way southward later today. Some sunshine will develop across the Hudson Valley and Northern New Jersey Hudson Valley Long Islandand Southern New England (and everyone in between). South of Route 78 in New Jersey clouds will continue with the rain gradually ending. Temperatures will be no higher than the low to mid 60s today.
EASTERN SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
Radars this morning to the south of NYC are somewhat busy. The rain cuts off rather sharply as you go northward. There are also some breaks in the rainfall. Much of it is light with occasional patches of moderate rain. The area is sliding to the east but the northern boundary of the rain is not moving further north.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
Dry air will push southward tonight and skies should clear but in Southern New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania there could still be some lingering showers around this evening but the showers should end. Lows by morning in many areas north and west of the coast will be in the 40s by morning with low to mid 50s everywhere else.
Clouds will return everywhere on Monday with highs in the 60s. A well defined warm front will move northward Monday night and Tuesday bringing rain everywhere and some of the rain will be on the heavy side on Tuesday. Highs will be in the 60s and then inch higher as the warm front gets closer.
Wednesday looks like the one day this week that will be on the warm and humid side with the risk for showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s. The next front stalls out on Thursday to the south and a wave develops on it but we might squeeze out a dry Thursday before some rain or showers come back on Friday. Next weekend is shaping up dry and seasonal at least for the time being.
