Rain Downpours Moving East This Morning
Satellite & radar loops this morning show a line of showers and some heavier downpours moving slowly eastward across New Jersey to NYC to the Hudson Valley & Western Connecticut. The southern part of that line looks to be a bit stronger than the north. It is swinging east around the strong upper air storm that is sitting over Lake Erie and dropping southward. In the midst of this we also have an onshore flow with a bit of a gusty wind along the coast and raw conditions with temperatures in the 50s. It will probably stay in the 56s to near 60 all day. There could be another round of showers later today with some spotty light rain or drizzle in between.

We continue to be guardedly optimistic for slow improvement over the next few days but it will be slow. There could still be some spotty light rain or drizzle tonight or even a few passing showers with temperatures in the 50s. Wednesday could start cloudy and damp but dry air from New England will be moving southward and there is a chance we could see some breaks in the clouds Wednesday afternoon with temperatures in the 60s to around 70. Thursday looks dry to start but clouds increasing. Low pressure off the southeast coast will be moving up the coast and it could bring some rain here and some wind along the coast late Thursday and Thursday night.
Weather models have suddenly gotten rather robust with the development of this storm system so it will have to be watched. We also have a full moon on Friday so there could be a coastal flooding issue with this if it tracks just offshore.Once that low goes by we will see weather conditions genuinely improve for the weekend with summer temperatures in the 80s Sunday and 90 or better Monday and Tuesday.
