One Last Shower Thunderstorm Clouds Sun Wind Friday Father’s Day Forecast
The rains from this morning moved in and out on time and the rain is over with. There is still a cold front to deal with as it moves east across Pennsylvania. Not much will happen for the rest of the afternoon with lots of clouds. We will have to wait for the front to move through tonight with the chance for a scattered shower or thunderstorm. Then finally skies will clear out. Temperatures this afternoon are struggling mostly in the 60s. Some lower 70s are showing up over Southern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey where some sunshine has broken through the clouds in some places. It is in the 50s along the coast over Long Island and Southern New England where the low clouds and ocean winds continue for awhile longer.

Radar shows the area of rain with the coastal low now moving New England. To the west with have showers and a few thunderstorms back in Western Pennsylvania. Those are with the cold front. They will thin out somewhat as they move east which is why we don’t expect widespread activity when the front passes. By morning skies clear and lows will be in the 50s to near 60.

Friday the fronts and lows are gone but there will be an upper air trough moving through during the afternoon. We will start the day with some sunshine but some clouds could develop from mid morning to mid afternoon. There is the outside chance for a brief shower mainly in areas from Northern New Jersey to the Hudson Valley. Winds will be gusty from the northwest up to 30 mph and temperatures will reach into the 70s.
Saturday looks like a very nice day. High pressure moves quickly from the Plains to the Middle Atlantic Coast. Winds will turn west and temperatures will warm into the 80s. Humidity levels will still be on the low side on Saturday. The frontal boundary setting up to our north stays to our north all weekend. It will start to sink southward somewhat on Sunday. Father’s Day will be very warm to borderline hot with a west southwest wind and a mix of sun and clouds. Highs will reach the 80s and warm spots will get close to 90. It will be a little cooler along south facing shorelines but the sea breeze will be contained to the immediate coast.
The question of the chance for thunderstorms is on the table for Sunday but we think they hold off until Sunday night since the frontal boundary is still far enough to the northwest to prevent widespread activity through Sunday evening. However some scattered cells could pop up mid to late afternoon well inland. Expect some thunderstorms overnight however as that boundary gets closer.
Monday it will still be very warm and humid with temperatures in the 80s to near 90. There is a higher chance for thunderstorms late in the day Monday as a stronger cold front makes its way southeastward to the coast. That front is likely to stall out to our south and be hanging nearby for much of next week which makes the forecast a bit challenging Tuesday through Friday.
