New Years Eve: 2016 Arrives Quietly
One round of rain to get through tonight and that’s it as far as precipitation is concerned. New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and the weekend into the middle of next week look dry. Tonight clouds and rain are streaming northward but this is not a very impressive system so whatever rain occurs will move through quickly between now and 2 or 3 am and then gone. Rainfall amounts should be under a quarter of an inch and in some places under a tenth of an inch. The we dry out for New Year’s Eve with some sunshine and clouds with highs in the mid 40s north to low 50s Southern New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania. If you are planning to be out in Times Square in New York City for New Years Eve the midnight temperature will be around 39 degrees with a west wind at about 10 miles per hour which is not bad at all. Skies should be partly to mostly clear. Most lows across the area will be in the upper 20s to middle 30s by Friday morning.
Friday we are looking at sunshine with highs into the low and mid 40s. Then colder Friday night into Saturday morning with lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s. Saturday and Sunday we will see some sunshine both days with most highs in the lower 40s.
Monday and Tuesday of next week we will see below normal temperatures for the first time since November 30th. Though we will see some sun both days, highs will only be in the low to mid 30s and nights will be in the teens and low 20s.
Storm signals are being flashed by the European Model and the GFS model so check the links below for more. And please be sure to have a safe and happy New Years Eve and New Years Day.
