Low Shoots Northward Rain Wind Saturday Night Coastal Areas
It isn’t often in July that you deal with a non tropical low that develops on a warm front and shoots up the coast but when the jet stream plunges well to the south of normal into the Southeast you are bound to have something strange happening. Let me say right off the bat that this doesn’t have time to become any kind of warm core system as it will be moving too quickly and frankly in terms of the outcome here it really doesn’t make much difference. This is going to be a tight low that moves northward just off the Delaware Coast to the South Shore of Long Island and then northward into New England. There will be a small area of rain and wind surrounding the low which means that places to the west in Western New Jersey for example and Eastern Pennsylvania might not see anything other than clouds and some downpours while coastal areas of New Jersey to Long Island and especially Long Island where a clobbering of heavy rain is possible.
Wind could also pick up for coastal areas later Saturday and overnight into Sunday morning with Gales likely offshore and I would not be surprised to see some gusts of 30-40 mph along the immediate coast. Wind will not be a big deal once you get a few miles inland. Once the low moves northward weather conditions could improve somewhat on Sunday though I suspect there will be a lot of clouds around.

REGIONAL RADAR
Meanwhile we have terrific weather today and Friday with lots of sunshine. Highs both today and Friday will fall in the 80 to 85 degree range with 70s along the shore thanks to a sea breeze. Tonight will be another clear comfortable night with lows in the 60s.
As for Saturday look for increasing and thickening clouds with an onshore wind and temperatures just into the 70s. Rain will arrive in Coastal South Jersey during Saturday afternoon and the northward from there for Saturday night into Sunday morning for areas from Northeastern New Jersey eastward. We will have more on this later today.
Please note that with regards to any tropical storms or hurricanes, should a storm be threatening, please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.
