A weak secondary low is developing just east of the New Jersey coast and while it is weak, it is enough to pinch in cold air into the Lower Hudson Valley, Connecticut & Northern New Jersey. Temperatures in many areas just barely inland are having a tough time getting out of the 20s and they may struggle all afternoon in spite of weather models trying to warm things up. Snow for the most part has shifted northward to north of Route 84.

Regional and local radars are absolutely loaded with moisture at the moment and this will cause significant ice accumulation inland during the afternoon. At some point warmer air will try and push northward but how far north it gets remains a mystery. Many inland areas may never push above 32 degrees if this keeps up. Rain will be heavy at times and total rainfall amounts will range from 3/4 of an inch to an inch and a half.

This evening some models are actually developing a line of thunderstorms along the coast and to the east as low pressure moves through Southeastern New England. This is a bit of an odd development but we will keep our eyes on this.

Once this weather system moves offshore tonight look for standing moisture to refreeze since by morning temperatures will be in the 20s.
