Heatwave Day 1 Heat Advisory NYC Hudson Valley
NNE New Jersey
The first of what could be 5 or 6 days in a row of 90 degree temperatures are higher begins today. We have a deep blue sky and lots of sunshine as we head into the afternoon. The satellite loop shows just a few passing clouds otherwise it is lots of sunshine for the rest of the day. Midday temperatures are already in the middle to upper 80s in some places so we will see 90 degree highs over a large area this afternoon. No pop up showers or thunderstorms are forecast right through Monday. It is basically heat with a gradual increase in humidity each day.
Saturday we will see plenty of sunshine everywhere with highs in the low to middle 90s. The upper high that is building in the east will reach its peak intensity on Sunday when we will see the hottest temperatures for the stretch. A few places like the warmer urban areas could see readings near 100 degrees Sunday afternoon. Even coastal areas will probably flirt with the 90s before any sea breeze comes in.
SUNDAY FORECAST HIGH TEMPERATURES
Monday Tuesday and Wednesday the heat continues with highs in the low to mid 90s though on Monday more of a south wind might knock the temperatures down a bit along the coast. Tuesday and Wednesday we will introduce the chance for a late day scattered shower or thunderstorm. The 4th of July looks very summery indeed. Thursday should bring a break with a weak front and an onshore wind (fingers crossed). with highs just in the 80s. It is after all summer! This is a perfect beach weekend wherever you go be it the Jersey shore or Long Island so enjoy.
