Severe Weather Risk Thunderstorms Popping Up
The warm front has now moved to the north of us and the atmosphere is very unstable this afternoon into this evening. Temperatures are rising rapidly into the 80s and there are some thunderstorms popping up all over the place this afternoon. There is a marginal risk for severe weather for the Northern half of New Jersey to Southern New England, the Hudson Valley, NYC & Long Island. This is the sort of situation where a few isolated cells could grow strong so keep an eye on the local radars below as the afternoon progresses.
EASTERN SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
The thundertorms will diminish this evening as a “dry line” approaches and moves through. This is not really a cold front since the air behind the front is actually as warm or warmer than the air ahead of it. Once we get through the evening and the daytime heating cuts off skies will clear out and temperatures will not fall much as they bottom in the mid to upper 60s by morning.’

LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
The heat goes on Friday and lasts until further notice with highs reaching into the 90s Friday. Saturday we will go even higher in the low to mid 90s. Sunday will be very hot with temperatures in the mid 90s to near 100 degrees in some areas.
