Heat Advisory New Jersey NYC Severe Weather Threat

severe weather

We have a Severe Weather threat and a Heat Advisory all wrapped up into 1 for Tuesday as the last of the short run of hot humid weather comes to an end. Actually 90 degrees has been rare this month and some areas haven’t touched it once all month. Tuesday will be the one last chance this month and possibly this summer for some areas to get to 90 degrees. Then a cold front approaches and moves through Tuesday night and that could potentially produce some severe thunderstorms with the best chances as you go west away from the coast. Eastern Pennsylvania & the Western New Jersey counties seem to have the best chance for strong thunderstorms which a much lower risk to the east.

Meanwhile we have some dying thunderstorms scattered in Eastern Pennsylvania this evening and they should continue to weaken and fall apart in the next few hours. Most of the area will just see clouds warm and humid conditions overnight with lows in the upper 60s to lower 70s on average.

Tuesday brings the heat and humidity and we will see many areas reach or even surpass 90 degrees especially the warmer urban areas which is why the Heat Advisory is posted from Northeast New Jersey southwestward to Southeastern Pennsylvania. Thunderstorms will begin to move through Tuesday evening from west to east. It remains to be seen whether they survive the trip to the coast.

Wednesday begins a stretch of weather that many will enjoy. There could be some clouds early on but we should go mostly sunny before too long with highs mostly in the 80s. Then with a nice cool high from Canada building in Thursday through at least Saturday will be partly to mostly sunny with most highs each day in the 70s to near 80 degrees and nights will be down in the 50s to some lower 60s in warmer urban areas. An early taste of September is headed our way.
