FLASH FLOOD WATCH SOUTHERN NJ SE PENNSYLVANIA MONDAY
We have a FLASH FLOOD WATCH posted for Southern New Jersey & Extreme Southeastern Pennsylvania for Monday which makes total sense since this area has been hammered with rain over the past few weeks so even an inch or two of rain could produce some flash flooding issues. In addition for the area under the Flash Flood Watch there is a risk of Severe Thunderstorms.
In terms of total rainfall there will be two areas of heavy rain. A one to two inch band is likely north and west of the track of the surface low which will be from Northern Virginia to off the Central New Jersey coast. Northeastern Pennsylvania to Northern New Jersey, NYC, the Hudson Valley & Long Island would fall into this zone.
The other area is where there is risk for severe thunderstorms. Weather models are generating some extreme amounts from Southern New Jersey southward of 4 inches or more. This of course would be dependent on how strong do the thunderstorms get. They certainly are capable of producing heavy rains in a very short period of time.

High clouds were a problem all day Sunday and now more clouds are beginning to move in from the west so they will continue to increase overnight. Rain is likely to develop across Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey before daybreak and reach NYC by noon and Southern New England and Long Island by early afternoon. Temperatures north and west of the severe weather risk zone will likely stay in the 60s while areas to the south could see highs reach the upper 70s and lower 80s.

Rains will continue into Monday night but they will be long gone before Tuesday morning. Weather conditions look good for Tuesday and Wednesday with sunshine both days, low humidity and highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
