Last night Bonnie became a tropical storm again as it moved away from the east coast. It is now well east of the Carolinas and Bermuda and is weakening. Bonnie should be gone before the day is out as it encounters colder waters and is absorbed by a frontal system in the Atlantic.

Latest Satellite Loop Of Disturbed Weather
Meanwhile in the Northwest Caribbean, disturbed weather continues to develop and slowly organize as low pressure forms east of the Yucatan Peninsula. That low center will move over the Yucatan Peninsula tonight and emerge into the Gulf of Mexico during Sunday. Conditions are favorable for Tropical Storm Development and the National Hurricane Center rates this an 80 percent chance of happening in the next 72 hours.

The maps above are the very latest NAM model out at 11am Saturday. It shows a track further west than the other models and actually has a rather well defined though broad tropical storm with heavy rains concentrated on the northern and eastern side.

The Nam takes this system over the Florida Panhandle and then off the SE US coast by late Tuesday. Upper air conditions are not set up for any of this to work its way up the east coast north of 35 degrees North (Carolina’s Southern Virginia)
