Cold Wednesday Showers Late Thursday Cold Weekend

We are starting out the day cold and sunny as we bottomed in the teens and lower 20s this morning. We see a minimal amount of cloud cover at the moment however there are some clouds out to the west on the satellite loop and we are likely to see some of those clouds arrive later today. Highs will make it into the 30s. Further west the next weather system is coming east and this will be bringing the next round of changes.

Radars are nice and quiet today with no action in our area to worry about. Tonight will not be as cold with lows mostly in the 20s. Then on Thursday clouds will increase ahead of a cold front. Highs will reach into the 40s. We should see a few rain showers with this Thursday night and it could end as some snow briefly before it ends. This looks to be another case of the precipitation shutting off as the cold air arrives. Then it will be cold and dry Friday and Saturday. Saturday will be especially cold as we start the day in the single digits and teens and highs will not get out of the 20s.

Sunday brings the next important system and it will be another low coming up from the south with cold air nearby. This system has more moisture with it so it could mean a heavy snowfall for somebody however who is the question. Cold air will try and hang on for coastal areas at least for awhile. If the system is less developed and flatter it would make for a colder solution for coastal areas. Models did trend slightly in this direction overnight. Inland it would seem that we would be looking at snow perhaps changing to a mix. Accumulations from this will be likely for parts of the area. All this gets underway later in the afternoon Sunday and lasts into Monday morning. We will have more on this possibility later today.
