Cold Front Cold Air Super Bowl Sunday Snow Rain
Cold Front Cold Air Super Bowl Sunday Snow Rain
We are beginning to see milder air arriving tonight and as a result clouds are beginning to move in. Those clouds and southwest winds overnight will keep temperatures from falling too far off the days highs. Those highs today only made it back to the lower 30s and lows tonight will likely be in the 20s to near 30. Further west on the satellite back through the Northern Plains you can see clouds with the next cold front that will approach us during the day Thursday. Temperatures Thursday will reach the 40s and areas in South Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania could peek above 50 degrees.
US SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
As we transition over to milder air some snow showers are showing up on the radar this evening but they are moving fairly quickly and they should not amount to much as they move through. Once these snow showers play out this evening the radars will be quiet for the overnight.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
Rain showers with the front will move in Thursday evening but colder air will come in and the rain will change over to snow overnight into Friday morning. Accumulations are possible in some areas but it should be generally no more than a coating to an inch at most. Then it is windy and colder Friday with temperatures holding in the upper 20s and lower 30s and then we head down to the teens and single digits Saturday morning. Saturday we will see sunshine with highs just in the upper 20s to lower 30s.
Super Bowl Sunday we will see deteriorating weather conditions with snow developing during the day. Along the coast we should see a change to rain with a minor accumulation but inland it could take awhile for warmer air to move northward. Areas in New Jersey north and west of Route 78 as well as the Hudson Valley north of Route 287 could see several inches of accumulation before any changeover. Weather conditions should improve on Monday as dry cold air returns. Another storm system approaches for the middle of next week and one follows that late next week. A very active weather pattern is developing over the longer term.
