Blizzard Warning Winter Storm Warnings Continue
The upper air trough that is supporting the major storm that is developing to the east is producing one last burst of snow from Northeastern New Jersey, NYC, Eastern parts of the Lower Hudson Valley Western Long Island and Western Connecticut. Central and Eastern Long Island is still seeing moderate to heavy snow as they rotate around the low to the east.

Much of Long Island will finish with a foot to 18 inches while Northern New Jersey picks up an additional inch or so in spots. Along and south of 195 this system for snow lovers was a disappointment as the snow amounts were only from a coating well south to about 2 to 3 inches north. One last burst is moving across Monmouth County at the moment and that will add to totals there.
Bitter cold temperatures and biting wind chills will be the story tonight as skies clear. Friday we will see sunshine giving way to arriving clouds with highs in the 20s to near 30. Friday night into Saturday morning a warm front sets up an area of snow for Northern New Jersey along and north of Route 78 to the northeast into the Hudson Valley, NYC, Long Island and Connecticut. This could produce a coating to an inch or two in some areas. Weather models are pointing to another threat for rain or snow Sunday afternoon and Sunday night. We will be discussing these two systems further later today.
