Winter Weather Advisory NYC Northeast NJ Counties

Westchester County Long Island Connecticut Snow 1 to 3 Inches

Rain has turned to snow this morning from west to east and it will accumulate between now and noontime on the order of 1 to 2 inches with some isolated 3 inch amounts possible on colder surfaces. Higher amounts will occur as you go east and northeast of NYC which is where Winter Weather Advisories are posted this morning.

Everything seems to be moving right along on course here from west to east. There is really no development of any wave on this front and other than some occasional bursts I don’t really expect much in the way of upside out of this. It should be ending in Eastern Pennsylvania around 8am and reaching the coast around noon or so. It is a fairly straight forward situation here.

REGIONAL RADAR

Regional radar shows the snow oriented in a north northeast south southwest fashion from Maine to Maryland and sliding to the east on the back edge. Some moderate bands are embedded in the mix in some of the darker green patches. All of this plays through the morning commute.

Once this comes to an end weather conditions improve. We have seen temperatures fall into the low 30s this morning and we will likely hover there for most of the day before headed down into the teens and low 20s by Thursday morning.

Thursday looks sunny but cold with highs just into the 30s. This next cold high moves in and out quick. Friday we will see increasing clouds with highs back into the 40s. Then a soaking rain is  likely Friday night through Saturday as low pressure moves up the coast. With no cold air it is all rain for everyone. We will speak more of this and the long range later today.
