Winter Weather Advisory NW New Jersey NE Pennsylvania Freezing Rain Early Saturday
We have Winter Weather Advisories posted for Warren Sussex and Morris Counties in Northwest New Jersey as well as Carbon and Monroe Counties in Northeastern Pennsylvania as as for counties further south and west toward Allentown for a short time Saturday morning. There could be some freezing rain issues during the early morning hours where temperatures could be at or slightly below freezing
It is always a little tricky when it comes to ice accumulation forecasts and ice is the sort of thing that you rather be wrong than be right on. Most ice accumulations will be on the order of .01 to .10 inch of ice which is enough to create slippery conditions when travelling.
The main issue for Saturday will be rain which moves in late tonight and lasts into later Saturday afternoon and evening as it moves from west to east. Rainfall amounts will be on the order of an inch to 1.25 inches in most places. It will move in and out relatively quickly. In most places the rain will be in before daybreak and out before early evening.
In the meantime for today we have gotten a bit of a break here with the high clouds as they have thinned out so we should enjoy at least some sunshine today though some more high clouds could arrive later on. Highs will reach the mid and upper 40s in most places.

The leading edge of the rain is showing up on the regional radar well to the west and obviously it is no issue here today or for much of tonight. Rain comes in between 3 and 7am from west to east and is done by 4 to 8pm from west to east. on Saturday with highs mostly in the 40s from NYC south and 30s from NYC northward. Weather conditions should improve on Sunday with clouds and some sunshine with highs in the 40s.
Next week is going to be a quiet Monday through Friday stretch with some sunshine and a few clouds each day with most highs in the upper 30s to middle 40s and nighttime lows will be in the 20s to lower 30s. This isn’t too shabby for this time of year. You will notice that there is a low in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Texas late next week and of course we see this as something we may have to deal with next weekend.
