Winter Weather Advisory New Jersey Eastern Pennsylvania

Winter Weather Advisory is posted for the light precipitation event that we will see later Monday into Monday evening. It won’t last long and it won’t produce much but the issue is some light snow going over to sleet and freezing rain. Ground temperatures are ridiculously cold and even if temperatures go above 32, the ground will be so cold that icing is likely. A light glazed timed for an evening rush hour commute could make for some hazardous travel conditions Monday evening. For Northwest New Jersey, the Hudson Valley and Northeastern Pennsylvania, it will be snow and under an inch is forecast which is the reason why the advisory is not posted for those areas at least for now.

After another day of temperatures not out of the teens we have clear skies going into this evening with light winds. Some areas could see their temperatures radiate down to the single digits but arriving clouds should limit the downside. Morning temperatures at daybreak should be mostly in the teens. There are no weather issues through midday Monday. The system coming in from the west is weak with the bulk of the moisture staying well to the south.

Later Monday afternoon into Monday  night there will be a few hours of snow sleet and freezing rain. Once that is done we will just have leftover overnight clouds with lows in the mid 20s to near 30. Tuesday looks decent with clouds and some sun with highs reaching the upper 30s and lower 40s. Wednesday a shot of colder air comes in with some sun and highs just into the 30s.

The big warm up begins late this week as high pressure goes out to the south and east and the next series of waves will be going by to our west. With no cold air from Canada coming in, we could see some decent snow melt and some rain as temperatures at least reach the 50s by the end of the week.
