Winter Weather Advisory Continues Weather Improves Monday Dry Through Thursday

Our weather system continues to be very unimpressive. After the first burst of precipitation this morning we have been basically piddling since then with rain, sleet, and snow. All of it was basically on the light side. That continues this evening as low pressure develops to our south east. The problem with this system is that the surface low lies well to the east of any upper air support to generate a large area of heavier precipitation.

Look for the radars to start showing precipitation falling apart after 10pm or so. Until then light rain or snow continues depending on your location. Rain with some sleet mixed in along the coast and some light snow inland; all of it comes to an end by the early morning hours of Monday. Temperatures overnight will probably hold in the low to mid 30s.

Weather conditions will slowly improve Monday with clouds and some breaks of sunshine. This storm system will strengthen and park itself offshore for the next 3 days. Winds will pick up from time to time. Temperatures Monday will top out in the upper 30s and lower 40s so whatever is on the ground if anything will probably disappear rather fast.

Tuesday and Wednesday will see clouds with some sunny periods. Winds will pick up later Tuesday into Wednesday with highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Lows Tuesday and Wednesday night will be in the mid 20s to lower 30s. Thursday we will have sunshine giving way to arriving clouds later in the day as the next storm system moves across the Gulf States and heads for the Southeast US coast. The storm to the northeast leaves limited room for this storm to turn northward. Models have been struggling with this for the last few days and if it passes south, it will bring some snow to the interior of the Southern Mid Atlantic but not much here. This will be the next forecast issue for the coming week.

In areas thay may still get some snow tonight these are the snow numbers from the National Weather Service. Some places will hit those numbers, some will fall short.
