Winter Storm Warnings Winter Weather Advisory Southern New Jersey
Winter Storm Warnings cover the coastal counties of Southern New Jersey and extend into Delaware, much of Maryland and Virginia. Winter Weather Advisories cover the western counties of New Jersey south of I-195 as well the neighboring Pennsylvania counties including Philadelphia. To the north of this area no advisories are posted at this time but we may see some additional counties added to the Winter Weather Advisory during the overnight hours.
Latest snowfall forecast amounts have been increased across most of the area under winter storm warnings. The northern fringe of the snow cuts off just north of NYC and Southeast of Boston. We have watched weather models today nudge in both directions but I think these numbers should hold. This is a very vigorous system that will be passing to the southeast of Long Island Monday but we expect areas from NYC northward to miss out on any snow and the heavier snow staying south across the Southern half of New Jersey south and west.

Nothing much will be happening overnight. Overnight rain over Virginia and Maryland will change to snow once the low gets into the Carolinas and shifts the wind to northerly, pulling down cold air. Snow will spread northward to about NYC and Southern New England around daybreak. Most areas under warnings will see the heaviest snows fall during the morning hours before daybreak until about midday.
After that the storm moves away and snow comes to an end from west to east during the afternoon. Temperatures Monday will fall through the 30s and into the 20s where it is snow heavier. Cold and dry weather will move in Monday night with lows in the 20s. Look for some sunshine on Tuesday with highs in the low to mid 30s. Wednesday we will be waiting for another cold front to pass with not much weather with it. Colder air returns Thursday and we still think we have the chance for some snow Thursday night into Friday as the next storm system develops to the southwest and heads northeast.
