Winter Storm Warnings Continue Up to 10 Inches Possible Parts of New Jersey
Our winter storm is underway and it is overperforming in a big way in parts of Central NJ north of Route 195 back into Southeastern Pennsylvania and some areas already have 8 inches or more on the ground. I’ve upped my snow totals for locally higher amounts to 10 inches in at 6 inch plus zone.
This lead wave continues to completely outperform weather models as a large area of snow developed overnight and then expanded during the morning hours over Southeastern Pennsylvania and Central New Jersey. Now that area is holding together and moving northeastward through NYC. the Lower Hudson Valley, Southern New England and Long Island.

Radars remain impressive going into midday as do surface observations which show moderate to heavy snow falling from areas around Philadelphia to NYC and now over Long Island.
F5 WEATHER RADARS
The NAM model continues to outperform all the others once again after a minor hiccup yesterday. It did that in the prior two storms only to come roaring back at the end. The back edge of the heavy snow will move out of Southeastern Pennsylvania this afternoon and reach NYC by early evening. We could see sleet and freezing rain mixing in at times in some areas as the NAM indicates.
A second impulse will move through parts of the area overnight with additional lighter snows. Another wave develops on Friday just to the southeast. There is the chance for another period of snow but it is possible that since the first wave is stronger, there will be less room for the second. We will be watching closely in the meantime.
