Winter Weather Advisory Into Friday Waves Of Light Freezing Rain Sleet Snow
The first round is done as the lead wave goes by. We have several more impulses to work through overnight and on Friday which means we will likely see waves of precipitation going by. Precipitation type will likely be anything from freezing rain or freezing drizzle to sleet and maybe even some snow. Each wave will produce light accumulations but cumulatively it could mean another coating to an inch or maybe 2 inches in some areas.
Whatever form the precipitation is in, it will make for slippery conditions on top of fresh snow cover overnight so exercise extreme caution if you have to travel. Winter Weather Advisories will continue all night and likely during the day on Friday as long as temperatures remain below freezing.
SATELLITE
Going forward overnight and on Friday will be keeping an eye on the regional radars. We expect to see precipitation developing from time to time and from place to place. Keep a close eye on precipitation forming to the south in Virginia as this would be a sign of another weak wave developing and heading to the northeast. Some of the short range models are picking up on this while others not so much. If we wind up with more precipitation than advertised, it will come from there.
F5 WEATHER RADARS
Temperatures will hold in the 20s to near 30 tonight and probably hold in the upper 20s and lower 30s on Friday. Skies should clear Friday night and Saturday will be sunny but cold with highs reaching the lower 30s. Sunday will also sunny and cold with again reaching the lower 30s. There are no issues with precipitation this weekend.
Monday will bring a fast moving cold front with some precipitation with that. If it comes in fast enough Monday morning it could start off as snow especially inland but more than likely most areas will just see some rain showers as temperatures push up into the 40s. The stormy winter pattern has broken down and much of next week will be quiet with moderation temperatures and no snow threats.
