Wind Advisory Friday Strong Winds Warm Temperatures Showers Sunday
The storm system producing the widespread severe weather outbreak in the Deep South this evening is strengthening and heading for the Eastern Great Lakes and New England. Ahead of it we had some sunshine today in some but not all areas as clouds were stubborn inland. More clouds are increasing tonight as a warm front passes. Some showers are likely late tonight into early Friday morning as a cold front passes. Once the front passes we will see some sunshine developing Friday however the pressure gradient will tighten up considerably. This is going to lead to an very warm but a very windy midday and afternoon across much of the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic.
Wind advisories are posted over a wide area from the Northern Mid Atlantic through New England. Winds will gust to 40 to 50 mph at times. It will be a strong west wind and combining with sunshine we will see that air heat up with highs reaching the mid 70s to near 80 degrees.

Friday night into Saturday cooler air will be moving in and the weekend will begin with sunshine on Saturday. Temperatures however will be about 15 degrees lower with most highs forecast to be in the 60s. There will be much less wind as high pressure builds in and the gradient relaxes.
The storm train continues on Sunday as another low develops over the Great Lakes with a trailing cold front. This system will bring clouds and showers for the Northeast and Middle Atlantic on Sunday. Temperatures will likely be in the 60s. Showers continue into Sunday night before ending from west to east. Then it will be windy and chilly to start the new week before the next high moves offshore and we fight the same demons we did this week with respect to the ocean wind and how much influence it will have on sky conditions and temperatures. Monday’s highs will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s and they they should trend higher as the week progresses.
