Weekend Outlook Dry Saturday Rain Wind Sunday

We are still dealing with this weather front from yesterday as it sits offshore and is barely crawling to the east. It is waiting for the upper air disturbance over the Great Lakes to finally kick it along to the northeast. That will happen during Thursday. In the meantime there are lots of clouds over much of New Jersey, Eastern Hudson Valley, NYC, Long Island and Connecticut. Steady rain is just offshore and it is clipping parts of Long Island this evening as well as much of Southeastern New England. Another wave of low pressure is developing on that front and we will have to wait for that to move off to the northeast and finally get everything cleaned up around here. But we may have to wait until later Thursday or Friday for genuine improvement.

The rain on the radar remains offshore and moving north northeast. Once you go inland of the coast, other than the odd sprinkle the radar is quiet.

Thursday we will see clouds but as you go west of the coast there should be some breaks of sun. The upper air disturbance moving through could trigger off another shower or two in some spots. Highs will be in the cool upper 50s to lower 60s. Friday looks good with lots of sunshine with highs in the low to mid 60s. Saturday looks very good with lots of sunshine with highs in the upper 60s to near 70.

Weather conditions will go down hill on Sunday as low pressure develops off the Southeast coast of the US while a cold front moves eastward across Pennsylvania, and a tropical system possibly gets involved. We have a shot here for a solid widespread rainfall of a couple of inches and along the coast winds will be an issue as the low intensifies and moves northward along the coast.
