Weekend Is Here Take Advantage of Dry Time

We have been advising that the best approach to the weather when we are stuck in a pattern like this is to take advantage of the dry time because the general pattern of cloudy days and periods of rain will continue through the weekend. We anticipate a dry stretch of weather during the day Saturday but clouds and rain will return later Saturday night into Sunday afternoon as the next wave in the endless parade of waves heads our way. We have one such wave heading here tonight and we are sitting in clouds

Weekend Is Here Take Advantage of Dry Time

The first wave and cold front creates a marginal risk for severe weather across much of Southern Pennsylvania with a general risk for thunderstorms to northeast into Southern New England. The satellite photograph show lots of clouds with the southern edge of the clouds lying across Maryland and Northern Virginia. This is wear the warm front is and that front will edge northward tonight as the cold front comes in from the west. Look for showers and possible thunderstorms to come in later this evening and much of the rain should be over with by daybreak over Pennsylvania. Some showers or a thunderstorm could be lingering after daybreak to the east across New Jersey to Southern New England.

Radar isn’t showing much at the moment. There are some showers passing across Northern Pennsylvania and we have a line of downpours extending south through New England to Northern New Jersey moving east. Keep an eye on local radars this evening as showers start to develop.

Our ideas for Saturday remain unchanged at this point. Clouds will give way to some breaks of sunshine with highs reaching into the 70s in many areas. This is your chance to take advantage of some dry time before we deal with the next wave for Saturday night into Sunday. Low pressure on the frontal boundary develops over Virginia and heads out to the east Saturday night into Sunday morning with some rain.

Weather models in general are becoming a little less aggressive with the rain keeping it under an inch and moving it a bit faster. This suggests that rain could be done by mid to late morning Sunday with weather conditions improving later in the day but I would be cautious on this idea. The northeast wind will keep clouds in until Sunday night when a push of dry air comes in from the northwest. Sunday’s highs will likely be just into the 60s in most places and while it is raining temperatures will likely be in the 50s at best.

Dry weather and some sunshine are likely Monday with highs in the 70s. Tuesday could bring some late passing showers with the next cold front which sets up the next round of waves and onshore winds for the middle and latter part of next week.
