Watching Low Clouds Fog Thunderstorms

watching low clouds

We are watching low clouds fog thunderstorms and very warm temperatures for the next 2 days. Today’s highs reached 70 or better in parts of New Jersey and the Hudson Valley while on Long Island and Connecticut it was more of a struggle today. Along the immediate coast low clouds and fog in some Eastern areas never got out of the way and temperatures barely made back to 50 in those areas.

Two storms are on the satellite loop tonight with one impressive looking one off the Florida coast and another centered in Kansas. The one offshore is not an issue here as it stays offshore and weakens over the next 2 days. The storm in Kansas will be heading for Southeastern Canada and its strong cold front moves through here late Saturday with some showers and a few strong thunderstorms.

Overnight look for dense fog to develop again in some areas with visibility dropping to near zero. Low clouds and fog will burn off to some sunshine again on Friday and temperatures in many areas will hit the 70s again but records are out of reach unless we run to the middle 70s. Once again Eastern and coastal areas will see another tough fight through the low clouds and fog. One more time on Saturday with late showers and thunderstorms. Some of those thunderstorms could be strong. The storm prediction center has part of the area at a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms.

dense fog record highs

Sunday will be colder and breezy with some sunshine and highs just in the 40s. Milder than average temperatures continue for much of next week.

Beyond next week I still believe we will see a short window of colder weather and the chance of another snow threat would have to occur in that time frame obviously. JOESTRADAMUS has more on the long range.
