Warmest Day of the Week. Rain Thunderstorms Friday Colder Weekend

We sit today between the old coastal storm that moved off the Southeast Coast and a cold front to the northwest which pretty much leaves us in a sweet spot today. This will be the warmest day of the week with sunshine and a west wind taking highs to the mid 60s to around 70 degrees this afternoon. There are no weather issues today other than maybe a few clouds that start to roll in late today. Radars are nice and quiet from that perspective and there are no weather issues there.

We will move things along tonight as the front to the northwest moves through and ultimately falls apart. This front probably goes through with no rain or at worst a passing shower or two in upstate NY and New England. Otherwise it is back to a north wind Wednesday and sunshine with highs in the low to mid 60s.

Thursday the next high moves out of the New England coast. This will do two things. It will turn the wind to the south southeast off the cooling ocean. It will also allow for clouds to gradually take over. Those two factors will hold temperatures down to the upper 50s to lower 60s. Then the next cold front approaches and this one will have some weather with it.

We have a strong southerly flow Friday coupled with a strong front and upper trough. It looks like we will see rain and possibly a thunderstorm or two. Some of the rain will be heavy Friday morning until the front moves offshore by afternoon. Highs Friday will be in the 60s until the front passes. This front is moving along on the top half but the bottom half gets hung up a bit. I’m not expecting much from this over the weekend but we will see temperatures trend downward in two step fashion. Most highs Saturday will be in the 50s. Sunday look for arriving clouds again as another cold front with a second push of colder air approaches. Highs Sunday will be just in the 40s to near 50.

Sunday night into Monday there will be some rain and snow showers across Western Pennsylvania to Western and Northern New York as well as Northern New England bringing some accumulating snows to those areas. Also add a little bit of lake effect to the mix too. For areas further south from Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England look for a few showers of rain Sunday night into Monday. The bigger story will probably be the colder air as we will have another day of highs just in the 40s. This shot of cold air will be a little stronger and colder than the one we just had. Longer term, another warm up later next week, another cold front late next week, and then even bigger changes in the overall upper air pattern heading toward Thanksgiving.
