This morning there is a definite chill in the air with some sunshine in the forecast for today. Temperatures bottomed in the 20s to around 30 this morning and we will stay in the 30s all day today. There should be a fair amount of sunshine however to take a little bit of the sting out of the air. Tonight we should see clear skies with diminishing winds. Lows overnight will be in the teens to lower 20s.

Warmer Weekend Ahead Temperatures Today & Tonight

thursday Warmer Weekend Ahead

friday Warmer Weekend Ahead

Friday we will see sunshine giving way to arriving clouds with highs in the 30s to around 40. Then a warm front comes through Friday night and there will be clouds and perhaps a sprinkle when the front goes by. The warm air makes a transition to the surface on Saturday which will be a mild day with clouds giving way to some sunshine. Highs everywhere will be in the 50s and given that it is mid February with the increasing sun angle, I would not be surprised to see these temperatures underdone by at least several degrees. 60 is not out of the question especially in Southern New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania. Mid to upper 50s should dominate all regions on Saturday.

Warmer Weekend Ahead Saturday Forecast Highs

saturday Warmer Weekend Ahead

Satellilte loop this morning shows the warm air beginning to move out of the Plains and heading east as the high clouds start streaming eastward. Much of the weather across the Eastern U.S. is quiet from the standpoint of precipitation. Radar loops in the east are quiet today and should remain so into Friday.

The next change will come later on Sunday as a cold front approaches and moves through. The air behind the front is not especially cold. Also clouds will be an issue Sunday as we have a wave on the front that will be moving east.

Warmer Weekend Ahead Sunday & The Long Range

nam84 Warmer Weekend Ahead

NAM model lines up very close to the European view here as this wave will track to our south. This will bring some rain here Sunday night to the coastal areas however inland north and west from Northwest New Jersey & Northeastern Pennsylvania, Southeast NY State into Connecitcut some wet snow could be in the mix. This should fall primarily north of route 84 as this goes by. Again not amounting to much here. We alluded to this last night as the possibility of a cheap thrill or areas north of the coast.

Beyond Sunday night into Monday of course we then focus are attention to the middle of next week with models all continuing to focus attention on some sort of storm moving up the east coast. There is still lots of uncertainty about this. We will address this later today.
