Warmer Weather Into Tuesday Colder Unsettled Mid Late Week
The uptrend in temperatures will continue into early next week as we continue to bounce from the bitter cold arctic air mass that came in and now is moving out. Temperatures are in the lower 30s this evening with the exception being in areas to the south where there is snow cover. There we have readings in the upper 20s. Temperatures won’t be dropping far tonight. Patchy cloudiness will hold temperatures up as will the gentle southwest winds at 10 to 15 mph. There is nothing on the radar to worry about tonight and radars will be silent though Monday night.
EASTERN SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
There is no change in the outlook into Tuesday. Look for some sunshine and patchy clouds Sunday and Monday with highs Sunday into the 40s. Monday we should reach upper 40s and lower 50s. Then the next cold front approaches on Tuesday.
The front comes through late in the day so we should reach well into the 50s on Tuesday with nothing other than clouds. Once the front passes cold air that will be spreading east and south from Southern Canada will begin to drain southward. This is not a situation for snow because the air aloft will be warm and above freezing at all the important levels.
The bottom part of the atmosphere will be a different story and the question becomes whether enough cold air drains southward to send temperatures below freezing inland. The weak lead system shown on the surface map below approaches on Wednesday and it could mean some freezing rain developing for inland spots and it could even reach down to coastal areas.
Since the draining of cold air is really a short term issue we won’t really be able to get a handle on this for another couple of days yet. In the meantime it is all about thawing out and warmer temperatures as Monday and Tuesday will have a spring like feel
