Warm Spring Sunday Ahead Highs Challenge 80 Week Ahead Outlook
May is usually the month where the last remnants of winter time volatility disappear. Let’s hope that is the case since frankly I think most of you are just sick and tired of all these windy days where the wind machine is working overtime. The nice thing this time around is that we settled out of that Friday mess quickly and now we can enjoy a decent Sunday.

There isn’t much to worry about today. Yes there are some scattered showers around on the radar and also the odd thunderstorm or two but we will also see some sunshine in between all this and highs today should reach into the 80s from NYC south and west and 70s to the northeast into Southern New England. A weak front is pressing southward from upstate NY but it is weak and it will get hung up to the north keeping us in a west or southwest wind.
We will leave in the sight chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm this evening and then move on to the new week which looks somewhat unsettled into Wednesday. Today’s cold front stalls and waffles back northward. We deal with a mostly southwest flow and ripples that will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday with clouds and some sun in between. Monday’s highs will be mostly in the 70s though it will be cooler along east and south facing shorelines and warmer inland with some highs reaching 80. Tuesday looks rather warm again with highs reaching into the 80s in most locations.
A cold front approaches Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and it seems that the front will try to pass early on in which case Wednesday will be a day of early leftover clouds and increasing sun with a bit of a breeze but no crazy wind. Highs will be in the 70s.
Late this week there are some questions regarding whether this front stalls and we deal with a developing coastal low and rain Thursday night into Friday or we see a weaker profile with a less developed wave that passes to the south and east.
