Warmer Sunday Week Ahead Outlook Unsettled Spring Weather Ahead
It was a welcomed relief after yesterday’s crazy weather day to see things calm down today. We have seen a day with plenty of sunshine. Temperatures made it back into the 60s. Most important is that while the wind machine was somewhat busy today at times, it was certainly no where near as fierce as yesterday.
SATELLITE
The satellite shows clear skies and the radars are quiet. We do have a weather system moving across the Eastern Great Lakes tonight with a trail of clouds and maybe a passing shower that goes by to the north in upstate NY. Temperatures overnight will be in the upper 40s to mid 50s
Sunday we should see temperatures warm up nicely. A cold front to the north stalls out across upstate NY which will allow warm temperatures to take hold. Sunshine should be able to drive temperatures up into the lower 80s from NYC south and west and mid to upper 70s in the lower Hudson Valley and Southern New England.
Monday brings up some moisture from the south as some Gulf of Mexico moisture that moves into the Ohio Valley Sunday translates eastward with cloudy to partly sunny conditions Monday and the risk for showers. Highs will be mostly in the 70s. We will see more of the same Tuesday with clouds and some sun and the risk for scattered showers and perhaps a thunderstorm. Highs will be in the low and middle 80s from NYC south and west and 70s to the north and east.
Wednesday brings a cold front and the chance for showers or a thunderstorm with highs in the 70s. Later next week and into next weekend we will watch a collapsing northern jet stream in the Eastern US that could set us up for a rather interesting scenario of a coastal low late next week and a rather cool Mother’s Day weekend.
