Warm Air Fog Thunderstorms
Warm Air Fog Thunderstorms
Warm air fog thunderstorms are three things that go together and we will see all three going forward with the thunderstorms possible later on Saturday as the next cold front approaches. In the meantime warm air did manage to get temperatures into the 60s across Central & Southern New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania. 50s and 40s were more common as you went northeast into Southern New England and Long Island. If you look at the wind barbs on the map you can see that the ocean influence is strong with water temperatures close to 40. Any ocean wind will keep things cool and damp at low levels. As even warmer air attempts to arrive tonight there could be some dense fog developing in some places.
Radars are quiet nearby with showers in Southern Virginia and Northern North Carolina generally moving east so they are not an issue here. Clouds and fog tonight with temperatures in the 40s and even some 30s in cold spots north and northwest of the coast will give way to breaks of sun on Thursday. How much sun and wind direction will be key but I think most areas away from the ocean should climb well into the 60s and 70 is not impossible. This will cause some records to be broken. The same holds for Friday though clouds fog and wind direction will be key again to how warm it gets.
