Very Warm To Hot Humid Weather Begins This Weekend

Lasts Through Much of Next Week

We are at the beginning of what will be a very warm to hot period of weather and we can say goodbye to the low humidity. That process has begun to day. Sunshine covers much of the region from Eastern Pennsylvania through New Jersey and the Hudson Valley. Clouds along the coast of Southern New England and Long Island are pulling away to the east as skies go partly sunny there this afternoon. Dew points are still reasonable but that will change as the southwest flow strengthens tonight and over the weekend. Temperatures this afternoon will top in the upper 70s to lower 80s with readings just a bit cooler along south and east facing shorelines.

Radars have gone quiet and outside of a pop up shower or thunderstorm (isolated) it will be rain free through the weekend and for much of next week. Lows tonight will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Saturday dew points will rise to 65 to 70 making things uncomfortable. Highs will reach the mid to upper 80s with sunshine. Temperatures will be a little cooler at the shore.

Sunday will be hot and humid with sunshine. Highs will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s. Temperatures both days will be cooler at the shore. Again other than an isolated shower or thunderstorm that might pop up, the vast majority of the time will be rain free.

Monday and Tuesday will be the hottest days of this stretch of weather. An upper ridge of high pressure will be sitting right over the Northern Mid Atlantic States putting the area in the heart of the hot air. Sunshine will take temperatures up to the low and middle 90s both days with temperatures just a little lower along the coast. Again very little if any chance for a pop up shower or thunderstorm. The ridge will start to slowly weaken later in the week. Wednesday will still be hot with most highs between 90 and 95. Temperatures might start to ease slightly Thursday but still reach the upper 80s and lower 90s. Friday sees a weak cold front approach and that may be the first chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms.
