The Onshore Flow Battle Continues All Week

The rain overnight has moved offshore and we are sitting in clouds once again this morning. There is hope for some breaks of sunshine developing as the day wears on but this is going to be a bit of fight today in some areas. We are of course at the time of year that if the sun does break out in a situation like this temperatures will bounce higher and a run to 70 or better is possible where this happens but where it doesn’t it might just stay in the 50s all day. This certainly would be the case for coastal areas and areas to the east of NYC this afternoon.

The rain is clearly over with as the radar loop shows lingering showers well offshore and they will soon be off the screen while there is nothing showing up overhead and to the west. The rain risk is over for today and through the daytime Wednesday.  So we sit back and watch whether the sun breaks out. Southern New England and Long Island struggle to get out of the 50s, Hudson Valley to NYC reach into the 60s and New Jersey south and west upper 60s to mid 70s. This WILL NOT be the case on Wednesday.

This map is the nam model 2pm temperature map for Wednesday and it will be onshore flow everywhere, developing and thickening clouds, and temperatures in many ares not getting out of the 50s. Once again it it about that warm front that  pushes 80s into Ohio and Western Pennsylvania but not here. I don’t see any rain for Wednesday but there  could be a few showers Wednesday night into early Thursday morning as this warm front cold front combination tries to move through. That sets up another temperature dilemma for Thursday. This should be the one day this week where temperatures have a shot of getting warm around here.

The Onshore Flow Battle Continues All Week

It will all about the warm front Thursday and how far north can it push into Southern New England. Some showers are possible Wednesday night though most go north of NYC into Southern New England and not much south of NYC. Right now it would seem 70s to near 80 for New Jersey is a good bet. Whether those 70s make it to Long Island and Southern New England remains to be seen.

Showers Overnight Into Tuesday Morning Some Sun Follows PM

There is a chance for showers and thunderstorms late Thursday. Then it is back to an onshore flow Thursday night into Friday with the chance for showers. The weekend is not looking good at all at this point with yet another wave of low pressure coming out of the Southwest and this could mean for more rain or showers later Saturday and then on and off through most of Sunday. We will break down our views on the weekend later today.
