Sunday Sunshine Low Humidity Warm Temperatures

We promised a day of sunshine and reasonably low humidity and we will have it today. The satellite loop this morning shows clear skies through much of the Northeast. A dry air mass is moving in and it will move out just as quick but at least we will squeeze in on nice day of sunshine, temperatures in the 80s and breathable air. Radars will get a break today and we do not expect even isolated thundertorms to pop up anywhere.

The new week brings with it a gradual return to humid conditions beginning on Monday and lasting throughout the week. We have another set up where we see a trough to our west however this time around the trough is setting up about 600 miles further west than the one from last week. This would certainly mean very warm and humid conditions here in the East all week long and the increasing chance for downpours and thunderstorms beginning on Tuesday and lasting all week but the trough being further west means that our risk will be more scattered in nature rather than the unrelenting widespread rains that hit areas from Virginia & Maryland northward into Pennsylvania and had our area sitting on the edge of that.

Instead each day will be very tropical. Daytime highs will reach the middle 80s to near 90 degrees and each day look for scattered thunderstorms to develop. This next stretch of tropical air could last awhile with only brief breaks like this one today every so often coming down out of Canada. Also we will begni to look for an increase in tropical activity now that we are entering the month of August though nothing is sitting out there now that poses any kind of threat. We will address the tropical issue later this morning in a JOESTRADAMUS post.

Please note that with regards to any tropical storms or hurricanes, should a storm be threatening, please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.
