STORMY INTO THE AFTERNOON, COLD FOLLOWS
Stormy With Heavy Rain & Coastal Flooding
Stormy weather has been going on for hours. You can see this morning just by looking out your window that we have a stormy morning underway with pouring rains in many locations. Winds have been gusting over 40 mph in coastal areas and there is the risk of coastal flooding at high tide late this morning and early afternoon. This afternoon temperatures could briefly rise into the 60s which could set records in some places before the cold air moves in this evening and tonight.
Radar shows the rain is moving rapidly northward and should be tapering off and ending as it already has across Southern areas. There should be a break in most areas from late morning until mid afternoon. Another round of showers is possible when the cold front comes through this evening.
On the back edge of the precip is snow which is falling across Eastern Michigan and NW Ohio. Look for the lake effect snow machine to be turned on once the storm moves northeastward into Canada.
Now tonight when winds shift to northwest it will turn rather cold very fast as temperatures fall from near 60 to the 20s tonight and will probably stay in the 20s or low 30s at best on Monday. Sunshine and clouds will be the story Monday with wind chills in the teens and single digits. Tuesday we have an arctic front approaching and I still think there could be a period of snow with this that could leave a coating to an inch or so some places. We will have more on this later this morning as well as a look at the long range.
